The Short Version
You can use BreatheIn without an account. Your settings and session history stay in your browser. We cannot see your ratings or notes. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Google Analytics to understand visits to the public website.
Information Stored on Your Device
BreatheIn uses browser storage for features that work only on your device:
- Settings: your panic-mode exercise, preferred durations, sound, haptics, and dark-mode choice.
- Session history: exercise name, start and completion times, duration, optional rating, and optional notes. The app keeps up to 500 sessions.
- Current session: temporary information used to move from an exercise to the post-session check-in.
This information is stored in localStorage or sessionStorage. BreatheIn does not send it to our server, Vercel Analytics, or Google Analytics. Anyone with access to your browser profile may be able to view data stored there.
Website Analytics
Vercel Web Analytics
Vercel provides aggregated information such as page views, referrers, approximate location, browser, device, and operating system. Vercel says Web Analytics does not use cookies or store IP addresses with analytics events. It uses a daily-resetting hash and does not track a visitor across different websites or days.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics measures page visits and session activity. Its default implementation may collect approximate location, browser and device information, and on-site activity. It uses first-party cookies such as _ga to distinguish users and sessions. Google states that Analytics does not log or store individual IP addresses.
Analytics receives page and route information. We do not intentionally send session ratings, notes, email addresses, or other directly identifying information to either analytics service.
If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you include in the message. We use that information only to read, respond to, and retain the conversation as reasonably needed. Do not send sensitive medical information by email.
Hosting and Service Providers
BreatheIn is hosted by Vercel. Vercel and Google process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Their systems may process data in countries outside your own. We do not sell personal information.
Your Choices
- Delete local BreatheIn data by clearing site data for breathein.my in your browser.
- Block or delete Google Analytics cookies through your browser settings or privacy tools.
- Contact us to ask about an email conversation or other information you believe we hold about you.
We cannot retrieve or delete your local session history because it never reaches us. Anonymous analytics data may not be linkable to you.
Children
BreatheIn is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child has contacted us may email us to request deletion.
